Discussion

According to Pew Research (https://www.pewsocialtrends.org/2020/01/09/trends-in-income-and-wealth-inequality/), the middle class share of total wealth has dropped from 32% in 1983 to only 17% in 2016. The trend is also seen in total income as the middle class share has dropped from 62% to only 43% in the same time period.

Coupled with the rise of automation and AI, the prospects for building wealth and earning income for the middle class will have pressure. What policies do you feel are needed or not needed to decrease this inequality? (Education? Universal basic income? Taxes? Job training?)
